The National Women Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Ms. Kate Gyamfua on 21st March met leaders of all female Volunteer groups in the party.
The meeting was aimed at bringing together the female groups to discuss pertinent issues relevant to women in the build up to the 2020 general elections.
The meeting among other things discussed the unification of all the female volunteer groups under one ‘Elephant’ with a central point of coordination as women.
It also brought to the fore the need to create a national desk to monitor the creation and operations of all female volunteer groups. This desk will act as a Complaint desk for collation of Feedback and issues from their encounters and ensure the party leadership is duly informed for the needed action to be taken.
The meeting also discussed the need for Leaders of smaller groups operating within the same jurisdiction/domain to come into a consensus and merge in order to become bigger and stronger to maximize impact and the get the groups to show respect among the Volunteer groups and the need to avoid internal rivalry.
The meeting again discussed the all importamt topic of partnership among the volunteer groups, regional and constituency officers of the party in the groups execution of projects in a designated region and constituency.
Ms. Gyamfua used the opportunity to advise the various groups to give respect for party structures; National officers of the party through to polling station officers.
She advised the leaders of the groups to put measures in place in multiplying their membership by working on their branding to make their groups attractive to outsiders and recruite more converts and first time voters.
She urged the groups to propagate the successful projects, polices and achievement of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government on daily basis wherever they find themselves.
Notwithstanding some of the challenges facing these leaders and their respective groups, the volunteers were charged and encouraged to embrace the spirit of volunteerism, impact lives and be an epitome of Hope for others.
