The Akyem Kotoku traditional area has sworn into office a new Gyassehene after 20years of protracted conflict. The traditional ritual for the swearing in occurred last Saturday, 20th April at the forecourt of the Gyasehene’s palace at Akyem Oda in the Eastern region.

The newly sworn in Gyasehene, Obrempon Dr. Ofori Danso Abeam, pledged to ensure that peace prevail in the Akyem Kotoku traditional area in order to pave way for development in the area.

Obrempong Appiah until his coronation was a lecturer at the University of Education – Winneba.

He advised the youth in the area to live a pleasant life, by staying away from drugs and other harmful substances which could destroy their lives.

He called for peaceful coexistence among the chiefs in the Akyem Kotoku traditional area. He said that is the only way they can pull developmental projects to the area.

Obrempon Dr. Ofori Danso Abeam promised to take the lead in ensuring that Akyem Kotoku gets a befitting traditional palace, a conference center and a Secretariat for the palace.

Time Consciousness

The guest of honour for the occasion; Prof. Agyekum, Dean of the Linguistics Department of University of Ghan appealed to the chiefs and everyone to be time conscious so as to make progress in all their endeavors and also called for peace among the chiefs in Akyem Kotoku traditional area, adding that it is only peace that can foster development and growth of an area.
