NPP Primaries: Kofi Ofosu declares intention to battle for veteran Anyimadu-Antwi’s seat

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, Chief Executive Officer for Accra Digital center, has declared his intention to vie for the Parliamentary seat of the Asante Akyem Central constituency in the Ashanti Region.

The seat is currently being occupied by Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, a veteran Lawmaker who has been in parliament since 2009.

Mr. Anyimadu-Antwi is currently the chairman of the Employment, Social Welfare and State Enterprises Committee of Parliament.

It is not clear whether the seasoned lawyer will contest again or not, but in a facebook post declaring his intention, Mr. Nkansah said he has been “deeply touched by the level of love shown by cherished fellow foot soldiers for my Asante Akyem Central Parliamentary bid even before campaign starts.”

For years, Mr. Nkansah has been one of the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s leading activists on social media, campaigning hard and helping him secure victory in the December 2016 presidential election.

The president then appointed him as the CEO of the Accra Digital Centre, a facility with the capacity to create 10,000 direct and indirect jobs at affordable rates for start-ups and emerging ICT companies.

Many of the party’s youth believe Mr. Nkansah has performed creditably well since his appointment.

Born and lived all his life in Asante Akyem, aside his working period in Accra, Mr. Nkansah said he has “decided to contest to be given an opportunity to serve the good people of AAC and to help consolidate the gains my party has made over the years.”

Like the Biblical widow, they want to contribute their widow’s mite to support even with their limited resources.

On this foot soldiers’ appreciation note, let me formally announce that when the New Patriotic Party opens nominations for Parliamentary primaries, I shall contest in the Asante Akyem Central Constituency.

I was born and lived all my life in Asante Akyem, aside my working period in Accra. I have decided to contest to be given an opportunity to serve the good people of AAC and to help consolidate the gains my party has made over the years. It is time to revive the hopes of party faithfuls and inspire a new generation of Patriots
