The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has donated some relief items to some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region affected by the lockdown. The items included bags of rice and undisclosed amount of money.
The items, according to the NPP chief scribe, are to be distributed to the underprivileged in the region to mitigate the hardship imposed on them as a result of the partial lockdown.
Presenting the items, Mr Boadu said the governing NPP and the Akufo-Addo government are committed to providing the needed relief to Ghanaians, particularly the underprivileged, at all times and, especially, during difficult times such as the situation the country finds herself in currently.
He said the party will continue to distribute various relief items to ameliorate the people’s suffering in these trying times, adding that the NPP will replicate same gesture in the areas in the Ashanti Region affected by the lockdown.
Education
Mr Boadu used the occasion to educate the public on the precautionary measures in preventing the novel coronavirus pandemic.
He advised them to regularly wash their hands with soap under running water, use alcohol-based sanitizers to rub their hands, live a healthy lifestyle, and to also observe the social distancing protocols announced by President Akufo-Addo and the health experts.
