The Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, popularly known as the MahamaCares Fund, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has commended the KGL Foundation for its significant support towards improving healthcare delivery in Ghana.
Speaking at the Ghana-UK Investment Summit 2026, Ms. Darko-Opoku praised the Foundation’s partnership with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, particularly its commitment to support the retooling of the Ridge Hospital with critical medical equipment valued at approximately $10 million.
Investment in Lives
According to her, the donation goes beyond the provision of equipment and represents a direct investment in the health and well-being of Ghanaians.
The support package includes MRI, CT Scan, Mammography and Fluoroscopy machines, which are expected to enhance diagnostic and specialist healthcare services at the hospital.
“Together, we can reduce suffering, restore hope, and transform lives,” she stated, while expressing gratitude to the KGL Foundation for its contribution to the Fund’s objectives.
Call for Public Support
Ms. Darko-Opoku also appealed to corporate bodies, development partners and the general public to support the MahamaCares Fund to enable it to meet the healthcare needs of vulnerable persons suffering from chronic and life-threatening conditions.
“Let us build a Ghana where chronic disease no longer condemns families to despair. Let us build a Ghana where specialised care is accessible, affordable and equitable. Let us build a Ghana where hope is not determined by income, and let us build that future together,” she urged.
She noted that broad-based support for the Fund would help expand access to specialised medical treatment and reduce the financial burden on affected families.
KGL Reaffirms Commitment
Meanwhile, the KGL Foundation has reiterated its commitment to supporting national development and improving the lives of Ghanaians.
In a statement, the Foundation stressed that its interventions are intended to benefit the wider Ghanaian public and not only institutions or agencies with which it has business relationships.
It further noted that the Ridge Hospital project would ultimately be beneficial to the Republic upon completion, adding that KGL remains committed to its guiding principles of serving “God, Country and Humanity.”
