President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that, unlike the opposition NDC which engages in ‘green book road propaganda’, his government constructs ‘visible’ roads that can be seen by all.
“My government constructs ‘Fiilifili roads, Fiilifili roads,” the President remarked yesterday.
Speaking at Teleku-Bokazo, in Ellembele District of the Western Region, as part of his two-day working visit to the region, the President said he is committed to keeping his promises and would ensure that every part of the country benefits from good road networks.
Sod cutting
The President used the opportunity to cut sod for construction works to commence on a 225km road network in the Teleku-Bokazo area. These include the Teleku-Bokazo-Eluku-Salman, Sentaso-Asomase and Sentaso-Kwesikrom-Preastea roads.
The construction of the roads, which are being funded by Ghana National Gas Company and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), is a fulfilment of campaign promises made by the then opposition NPP in 2016 to the people of the Western Region.
The President said his government is a truthful one which always fulfils it’s promises, assuring that it would never deceive Ghanaians for anything.
He urged residents in the area to vote massively for him and Kwasi Bonzoh, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Ellembele, to enable them do more for the area.
Walking the talk
President Akufo-Addo, earlier in the day, inspected ongoing construction works on some roads in the region as well as the Axim Sea defence wall, the Axim fishing harbour and school blocks.
Awulae-Amihere Kpayinlli III, the Eastern Nzema Omanhene, described President Akufo-Addo as an ‘action man’ who walks his talk, and urged him to continue safeguarding the peace in the country.
He said it is only in a peaceful environment that the government can implement policies and programmes to better the lives of the citizenry.
The Omanhene appealed to the President to help fast-track processes leading to the building of a district hospital, the Atuabo fishing harbour and a community mining in the area to create jobs for the youth.
