Mr. SAMUEL Ayeh – Paye, Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency in the Eastern Region has donated medical equipment’s to the Ghana Health Center Directorate in the area.
The items donated include; 30 pieces of BP Analogue Apparatus, 20 pieces of toddlers and hanging weighing scale respectively, a double-decker fridge and two sets of flat screen television.
Others include a digital scanner, two laptops, 5 dressing sets, and 3 pieces of delivery sets, motor bicycles, and an air conditioner.
Ayeh – Paye presenting the donation noted that it came as a result of lack of medical facilities for the twenty-seven health facilities across the District.. He added that the gesture is to help them execute quality health delivery to the people in the town.
The donation follows a request made by the District Director of health during a visit the MP he made to the director some time ago.
“I decided to use some of my common funds to buy these facilities for them and the amount involved is close to about a GHC 100,000. I did the same for the District Director of Education somewhere last year. As a matter of fact, some of these consumables are supposed to be provided by the ministry of health and then the Ghana Health Service” he stated.
He said that he has been able to increase the health facilities in the district from 11 to 27, an indication of the good works that he is doing for the constituency.
As part of the 27, about nine of them are health Centre’s with medical assistants.
He further charged the Health Directorate to ensure that the items are used to enhance quality health delivery in the district and urged them to maintain the items presented to them well so they can use it for a long period of time before they go bad.
The Ayensuano District Director of Health, Mrs. Esther Oku Afari, who received the equipment, expressed gratitude to the Law Maker for his kind gesture.
She noted that “the challenges facing the health directorate are enormous but these items that we have received will go a very long way to help us. Visiting our clinics and communities we work in was very difficult because of the terrain and since we’ve been giving motorbikes it will go a long way to help us do our work”.
She added that. ”I think it’s a boost to my workers because when you are working without getting the necessary materials it demoralizes you but once you have the things it will propel you to work harder”.
She lamented on lack of water for the Health Centre and called on the MP and other institutions to come to their aid in subsequent days since water is key in health delivery.
