Students of Ayirebi Senior High School (AYISEC), in Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region, are living in fear following constant attacks from unknown persons, suspected to be boys from the community.
According to some students, the armed attackers hide in bushes and attack them with weapons when they are returning from preps or going to use the toilet facility, with female students being the worse target.
The students therefore want security on campus beefed up, due to the lack of fence wall around the school, to deal with the situation.
Negligence
Some of the students who spoke to the eveningmail.com accused management of the school of being negligent in beefing up security on the campus.
“Some of our female students were attacked while going to use the toilet. Two girls were also hit with wood while going to the dormitory after preps. At dawn, we hear noises and they throw stones onto our roof; so unfortunate one of the stones hit our colleague who was taken to the infirmary. Sometimes after preps we come to meet our dormitory ransacked,” the students claimed.
Meanwhile, the headmaster of the school, when contacted by newsmen, declined to speak on the issue.
