The leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party in the Krobo enclave has rejected allegations made against them by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), that they are busing people into the area to register in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise.
The NPP executive in the Yilo Krobo, Upper and Lower Manya Krobo constituencies insist they have not bussed anyone from outside to the area, accusing the NDC of being the people engaged in such acts.
Rather, the NPP executives say, they are only encouraging their supporters and the people in the various constituencies to go out in their numbers to have their details captured in the exercise. They added that they are also encouraging Krobos who have left the area due to job appointments, job transfers and others reasons to return home for the registration exercise.
The NDC had accused the NPP, during a press conference on Saturday, of getting officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) to register illegitimate people who were supposedly bused into the Krobo constituencies.

However, at a counter press conference held on Monday, the NPP constituency secretary for Lower Manya Krobo, Goldman Awuku Dodzi, debunked the claims, saying the NDC are rather guilty of what they are saying.
“All what we are saying is, we need to encourage Krobos living outside to come and register at home, but we are not providing buses for them. They should do that to change the narratives of these enclave by volunteering. That’s all we are asking and the NDC, who are so guilty of busing people from Ashaiman to come and register over here, are always quick in seeking refuge by running to the media because they are incompetent,” Mr Dodzi said.
He added that there are visual evidence of the NDC importing people who are not indigenes of Kroboland to register within the Krobo block, stressing that the press conference by the NDC was an attempt to accuse the NPP wrongly so that attention would be taken from them(NDC) in order to continue with their heinous activities.
Security backing
The NPP secretary accused the Odumase Krobo police command of backing the actions of the opposition party to continue to violate the rules of the registration exercise.
“There was a situation where the bodyguard of an MP pulled out his gun to threaten people and we reported the matter to the police but nothing positive has come out of it.
We have also reported the unprofessional behaviour of the police to the regional command for necessary actions.
We are showing good leadership as a party in power by tolerating all these and channelling our grievances to the security, not knowing they are rather backstabbing us,” he fumed.
