The vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has described the former President and flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, as ‘incompetent nice man’.
According to the Vice President though the former President, whom the Vice president and his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, have not seized to continually describe as ‘incompetent’, is a nice man, he is still incompetent. “John Mahama might be a nice man but he is an incompetent nice man,” said the Vice President adding that “the presidency is not for nice men”.
Dr. Bawumia was speaking in Tamale over the weekend at a Youth Rally organized by the Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Achievement
The Vice President used the opportunity to enumerate the achievement of the government in some 85 different sectors saying in all of those sectors the NPP administration has performed better than the former NDC government.
He mentioned specific achievement of the administration such as the restoration of trainees allowance, one district one factory, National Identification Cards, one Village, one dam, Free SHS , Nation Builders NABCO among others.
“Before the NPP came into power, the country was in deep crises ranging from Dumsor, tax increment, research, teachers and students allowance were abolished, unemployment rate was high and many others,” he said
Walk
The rally was preceded by a health walk across the principal streets of Tamale organized by the youth wing of the party. The walk was led by the Vice President and the National Youth Leader of the party, Henry Nana Boakye Nana B, among other stalwarts of the party. The walk was aimed at canvassing support for the party towards the 2020 general election.
Conference
The walk and the rally were all part of activities to mark the party’s youth wing’s this year’s Annual Delegate Conference. The three days conference held under the theme “One Good terms deserves Another” is meant to help the party ginger its youth base ahead of the 2020 general elections.
This is the last wing conference to be organized by the party with the party’s main National Conference slated later this year at the Trade Fair Centre.
Last week, the Women’s wing had its conference in Takoradi. Before the women’s wing, the Nasara wing last month had theirs in Techiman.
The national organizer of the party, Sammi Awuku, has praised the various wings for the successful conferences.
NDC Not an Option
The National Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay, speaking at the youth conference stated that though the country is not yet out of the challenges the NPP inherited, the NPP is still a better option than the NDC. He stated that the performance of the NPP is far better than what the NDC did.
The NPP National Chairman said the Akufo-Addo led administration has stabilized the economy, reduced interest rate, and also reduced the rate of unemployment, something the NDC could not do.
He charged the youth of the party to take into their hands the 2020 campaign saying the success of the NPP in 2020 depends largely on the youth.
