The divisional chief of Okper in the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Anyeenorgu Teye Agor IX, has accused the Inspector–General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, of protecting one self-acclaimed chief of Okper,Nene Nanekey Terkpertey Ofori Agor IX, a police officer at Somanya, for misconduct.
Addressing the media at his palace in Somanya, Nene AgorIX said he had written several petitions to the IGP’s office about “the unlawful, absurd, and irresponsible behaviour of his police officer Dennis Yao Terkpertey but to no avail.”
The chief’s complaint comes at the back of a video circulating on social media in which Dennis Yao Terkpertey is parading himself as a chief of Okper.
Nene Agor IX noted that Mr Terkpertey, who is the author of the said video, is an imposter, and does not hail from any of the royal families within the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area.
Police protection
Additionally, he, together with other five divisional chiefs of Yilo Krobo, called on the IGP in his office to officially submit their complaints about the said police officer with documents and video evidence which had also not yielded any positive results for the past two years.
“It has been over two years now, and it appears the police administration is not interested in calling their partner to order. The continuous silence of the Ghana Police Service has empowered Dennis Yao Terkpertey to improve upon his modus operandi of destroying Yilo Krobo by consistently causing chaos and conflicts,” he lamented.
