Members of the Concerned Voters Movement (CVM) have boosted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s campaign by leading a street campaign that seeks to mobilise votes for the President.

The CVM campaign is in support of the NPP’s retail campaign strategy that seeks to use different campaign styles to target individual voters directly.

Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the governing New Patriotic Party has adopted what it calls the retail campaign.

As part of the retail campaign, the party uses house-to-house campaign style to interact directly with people who can be easily reached, while volunteer groups within the party known as V20, use the street campaign style to communicate to individuals who are moving in vehicles or busy locations.

Members of the V20 showcase placards that capture specific achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led government at busy locations.

CVM campaign

To support this campaign, CVM on Tuesday visited the Kwame Nkrumah interchange to interact with some voters as well as display placards that capture the government’s achievement.

Dubbed “Razak Kojo Poku says Vote for Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP Parliamentary Candidates”, the placards give specific reasons why Ghanaians must vote for the NPP.

Some of the placards read “Razak Kojo Poku says Vote for Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP Parliamentary Candidates because they have delivered NABCO”, “they have delivered free electricity”, among others.

Rationale

President and founder of CVM, Razak Kojo Poku, in an interaction with the Daily Statesman, said the CVM campaign is in support of many of such campaigns being done by other V20 groups.

“A lot of our colleagues are doing same, but what we have not focused on is that attention has so far been on only the President, and not the parliamentary candidates. President Akufo-Addo will need majority of MPs, hence the need to add them to ours,” he said.

“Again, we have realised that many of the placards do not focus on specific reasons why Ghanaians must vote Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP. Why should we vote for the NPP? There must be reasons, and that is what ours seek to achieve,” Mr Kojo Poku told the Daily Statesman.

He called on Ghanaians to support the call to retain President Akufo-Addo and the NPP to continue to do the good works they are doing for Ghana.

“President Akufo-Addo has proven that he is a president of vision, and must, thus, be given the opportunity for four more years to do more for Ghanaians,” he added.
