Ms Newman (middle) on her way to submit her forms

Dakoa Newman, a construction project manager, has filed her nomination to contest the Okai Koi South constituency primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party.

Ms Newman, who filed her nomination on Friday, was accompanied by a huge crowd comprising youth groups and party delegates. She was met on arrival by the party’s executives at the constituency office who received her forms.

Speaking to journalists shortly after submitting her forms, Ms Newman promised new hope for the area, should she be elected to lead the party and, subsequently, win the seat in the December 2020 parliamentary elections.

She said the constituency has not seen much development over the years, and pledged to provide jobs and address the infrastructural deficits in the constituency.
