MultiChoice Ghana has scrapped all its old DSTV packages and replaced them with four new simplified and more affordable packs, effective today, Thursday, November 5, 2026.
The CEO of MultiChoice Ghana, Mr. Alex Okyere, announced the new pricing after the launch last night, describing it as a permanent change and not a promotion.
“We are taking all of them away, and our customers have spoken. We are coming with new packs, just four simplified packs, very affordable. If I tell you the prices, you’ll be amazed,” Mr. Okyere said.
The 4 New Packs
1. DSTV Starter – GH₵50 per month
The entry pack has 90 channels and is designed for every home in Ghana.
It includes Akwaaba Magic, Premier League Match of the Week, Cartoon Network, and all local matches.
“For instance, the El Clasico that happened some few days ago would have been on this pack, and it’s all going for just 50 Ghana cedis. What can you buy with 50 Ghana cedis in Ghana?” Mr. Okyere said.
“Our dream is that every home in Ghana will have DSTV in their houses, and everybody should be able to afford the Starter pack.”
2. DSTV Select – GH₵100 per month
For customers who want more, Select offers 123 channels.
3. DSTV Sports – GH₵250 per month
The Sports pack has all the football on DSTV.
“In the past, you would have gone for Compact Plus, which was in excess of 500 cedis. But today, you can just go for Sports, and you get all the football channels for just 250 cedis,” he explained.
4. DSTV Ultimate – GH₵570 per month
For those who want even more, Ultimate adds premium sports like F1, tennis, rugby and golf, plus all other content.
Why The Change?
Mr. Okyere said while existing customers have enjoyed DSTV, many more Ghanaians were not being reached.
“We felt like there are a lot more people who are not getting the enjoyment you’re talking about. We’ve not been able to reach certain categories of people, so the decision was taken that we will come down, so all households in Ghana can enjoy DSTV,” he said.
He argued the new prices make piracy pointless.
“There is no point. There’s no need for you to go and stream or get any boxes from other countries with the prices we have now. I mean, 50, 100, 250, 570. There is no point,” he said.
“With these prices, 50 Ghana cedis, you can’t even buy data for a week, right? So you even spend more money streaming on all those pirate sites than just getting DSTV for just 50 Ghana cedis.”
Clampdown On Piracy
Mr. Okyere also revealed MultiChoice is working with the Minister of Communications, who is seeking opinions from the Attorney General, to clamp down on piracy online and on decoder boxes brought in from other countries.
Permanent, Not Promo
He stressed the new structure is here to stay.
“This is a permanent change. We are moving from the old and we are coming with the new. So it’s not a promo or a short term anything. These are the new packs that have come to stay,” he said.
