The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), responsible for power distribution in southern Ghana, has initiated a campaign to verify the accuracy of post-paid meters and their readings within its operational regions.

Named ‘Operation Fix the Bill & Pay the Bill,’ the exercise commenced on November 6 and is scheduled to conclude on December 11, 2023.

The objective is to ensure confidence in billing accuracy, aligning consumption readings with those recorded by ECG agents.

This effort aims to generate precise bills and recover outstanding payments from customers.

The initiative responds to customer complaints about overbilling, prompting intervention from the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).

In a press release, ECG emphasized its commitment to the process, operating with a lean staff in regional and district offices to facilitate essential services during the verification period.

Customers are urged to cooperate as ECG fulfills its mandate under the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission’s LI (2413).
