The Rebecca Foundation, as part of efforts to mitigate the socio-economic discomfort associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, has donated assorted items to the SOS Village Ghana.

The donations include 15 boxes of cocoa drink, 10 bags of maize, 10 bags of beans, 10 bags of gari, 20 bags of rice, 15 cartons of vegetable oil, 10 bags of sugar, five boxes of toilet roll, 15 boxes of chocolate spread, 12 boxes of washing powder and 25 boxes of cupcakes.

Making the donations on behalf of the Executive Director of the Foundation, who is also the First Lady, Director of Operations for the Foundation, Akosua Newman, said as Patron of the SOS Village, Mrs Akufo-Addo knew the possible challenges that could confront the institution in these times of the coronavirus pandemic, and its attendant lockdown and quarantines, thus her decision to donate to the village.

Role of SOS

Mrs Newman said the special role played by SOS Village in taking care of orphans makes it imperative that the Covid-19 pandemic does not penetrate their doors, saying an outbreak on any of their campuses will be disastrous to their innocent children.

She said The Rebecca Foundation, through the Rebecca Foundation Relief Boxes Challenge, has received contributions and made many distributions to various identifiable groups and institutions. She said the First Lady and The Rebecca Foundation are determined to partner with corporate Ghana to compliment government’s effort at reducing the discomforts associated with the necessary partial lockdown to ensure a halt in the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
