This year’s International Teachers’ day which seeks to recognize the contributions of teachers across the world was commemorated in Gbledi Gborgame L.A JHS and R.C Primary Schools in a grand style on Monday, 7th October 2019.
The celebration which was organized by Gbledi Youth Intervention Team happened to be the first in the history of Gbledi Traditional Area and a resolve on the part of the team to give back to their alma mater.
The team, led by its President, Mr. Samuel Kualor; Organizer, Mr. Bertus Norgbewornu and a group of youths presented and awarded deserving students in the two schools with books and other stationery.
Categories such as best performing Student (1st, 2nd & 3rd positions) for JHS and Primary, Most disciplined student and finally, sports personality(boys & girls) were considered.The awardees, beaming with smile and pride took turn to receive their Awards admist clap offering from the rest who cheered on.
The special guest of honor for the occasion, Mr. Robert Atsu Okor who aspires to be the next Assembly member for Gbledi Electoral Area in this year’s District Assembly Elections charged the students to: always lead with prayer, Know why they are in school, be hardworking, be disciplined, sacrifice and most importantly lead a chaste and healthy lifestyle.
He further added that, all things beings equall, the initiative which has began as an infant one will be organized better and extended to Gbledi Chebi, the second community which made up Gbledi Traditional Area.
The team, Gbledi Youth Intervention also used the occasion to thank contributors who made the donations possible especially Mr. Edem Akpakli and passionately call on the rank and file of the community to come on board in supporting this great initiative to see the light of sustainability.
