Nii Masope Crabbe receives the dummy cheque of the claims on behalf of the family

Ghanaians have been advised to insure their families against unforeseen circumstances and uncertainties.

According to Nii Masope Crabbe, Head of Nii Dodoo Ke Nana Densua Weku, a royal Ga family, insuring families against uncertainties help members of them to get back on their feet should the unexpected happens.

He said this during a short ceremony to present some insurance claims to two members of his family. One of the beneficiaries is suffering from heart problems while the other is a victim of motor accident in Accra.

GLICO Insurance, the company in charge of the family’s insurance, presented an amount of GHC825 and GHC5, 000, respectively, to the two.

Nii Masope Crabbe stated that the policy has gone along way to help the family.

He noted that Ghanaians have a bad habit and negative perceptions when it comes to insurance. This, he says, will not help individuals since unplanned misfortunes and unforeseen occurrences can always happen at any time.

Guard against misfortune

He has therefore urged the populace to consider personal insurance, property and family insurance as a habit to protect them from any misfortune that can happen to them.

He noted that every family depends on financial support to enjoy a decent standard of living, and that is why insurance is especially important once you start a family.

“It means the people who matter most in your life may be protected. It also reduces stress during difficult times because none of us know what lies around the corner. Unforeseen tragedies such as illness, injury or permanent disability, even death – can leave you and your family facing tremendous emotional stress, and even grief. With insurance in place, you or your family’s financial stress will be reduced, and you can focus on recovery and rebuilding your lives,” he said.

He also indicated that no matter the state of one’s financial position, an unexpected event can see it all unravel very quickly, saying insurance offers a payout so that if there is an unforeseen event “you and your family can hopefully continue to move forward”.

“You can at least have peace of mind, knowing that if anything happens to you, your family’s financial security is assisted by insurance,” he said.
