A philanthropist, Henry Amponsah, has urged Ghanaians to support the aged, especially in these trying times that the world is battling the novel coronavirus pandemic.

He contends the support will give them a sense of belonging in the society.

The private businessman added that, due to the current situation the world finds itself, many families tend to neglect the aged pleading with them to know the elderly cannot take of themselves and hence need the support of everyone.

Mr Amponsah said this when he made donation to some 500 senior citizens at Koforidua in the New Juabeng South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The donation included hand sanitizers, mattresses, nose mask and cash to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said problems associated with old age should be the concern of all adding a concerted efforts is needed on the part of the family, individuals and the State to help such fray people.

“Provision must be put in place to help them in condition of respect, decency and love,” he said.
