President Akufo-Addo

Members of the Northern Youth for Nana Akufo-Addo (NOYONAA) say Ghanaians are discerning enough to identify the difference between the New Patriotic Party’s three and half years in government and  the opposition National Democratic Congress’ eight years in office.

According to the group, the claim by the NDC that President Akufo-Addo and the NPP have executed only 14 per cent of their campaign promises is “untrue and misleading”.

A statement signed by Mr Abukari Ubaidullah, NOYONAA Northern Regional Coordinator, said the achievement of the Akufo-Addo administration “is unmatched”.

Achievement

The statement mentioned the reduction of unemployment from 11.9 per cent in 2015 to 7.3 per cent in 2019, according to the Ghana Living Standards Survey; the Free Senior High School programme; the free registration for West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination and Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates; and the restoration of the teacher trainee allowances as some successes of the government.

The group added that the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, has registered about 1.1 million farmers who have got access to 703,000 metric tons of fertilizer.

It also noted that the food safety and security programme, under the National Food Buffer Stock, and the distribution of seeds and supply of fertilizer to farmers have also contributed tremendously in boosting agricultural production in the country.

In the area of health, it said 307 ambulances have been distributed to each constituency to facilitate the movement of patients from one destination to another, and also cited the restoration of the trainee nurses’ allowance.

It further listed other achievement of the administration such as the restoration of peace in Dagbon, Tamale Interchange and town roads, the Pokuase Interchange, among others, and urged the NDC “to stop deceiving themselves and their supporters”.
