Kandifo Institute and University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG) have signed a 5-year renewable working relationship agreement.
By this agreement, members of USAG will be exposed to the Institute’s initiatives such as the Kandifo Leadership Hive, Economic Hive, Governance Hive, Mentoring and Coaching Hub, Let’s Go Lower, Let Her Lead, Democratic Election Think Tank, Abato Asomdwe Pledge and MP/Assembly Shift.
Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between both entities in Accra, the Executive Director of Kandifo Institute, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, said that the 5-year agreement between his outfit and USAG makes both the youthful think tank and the student union of about 40-member institution and about 300,000 estimated student number a viable force.
He expressed the firm conviction that Ghana’s future is undoubtedly the young people of Ghana who form 52 per cent of the population.
“Deep influence in the future of the young people demands that they are each forged on the inside with a high level of emotional intelligence whilst managing the shadow side,” he said.
Expectations
Mr Boakye-Danquah is of the view that at the end of the renewable contract with the permanent block of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), the outcome will birth a continuing and graduating students who are practical with the abilities to advance their lives.
“We will be able to see a student who appreciates the wake-up call, who is self-led, disciplined, gets his/her ultimate purpose for life, understands the timeless secrets of leadership, knows and values Economic commodity, has wisdom for personal change is miraculously transformational,” he said.
“Kandifo Institute will want to see a student who chooses to change to transform himself/herself by overcoming a victim mentality, by boosting confidence, by involvement in team work, goal setting and planning, time management and good attitude. A student who is fit to bust out failing companies and revive back to fruitfulness. One who takes risks by learning to identify, choose and live with acceptable risk,” the Executive Director added.
Among other things, Mr Boakye-Danquah further looks forward to seeing a student who has proven steps to maximise his potential, who can have a leadership game plan for his life and is a leadership asset.
About Kandifo Institute
The Kandifo Institute is a public policy think tank which advocates in a very practical way, influencing policies that facilitate and sustain conservatism as a guided ideology of preference.
It believes that through its research, national policy dialogues, private sector development and developing a productive youth, it will help shape and nurture the development destiny of Ghana.
Mentoring the youth is one of its key areas of focus. By this, the think tank has established a leadership programme through which experienced professionals would be linked to selected youth.
This is to mentor them in leadership in line with the tenets of the conservative tradition and, particularly, to be savvy and able to communicate on critical national issues on governance and economy.
