The National Women’s Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party, Kate Gyamfua, has started a campaign to mobilise support for the upcoming voters’ registration exercise.

The campaign, which is been done on social media, is meant to ginger the support base of the governing party and as many Ghanaians as possible to take part in the exercise.

Ms Gyamfua, speaking to the Daily Statesman, said the current exercise is part of a grand agenda of the women’s wing to lead the party’s 2020 campaign.

Social media campaign

The NPP Women Organiser last month urged all women groups in the party to rally behind the women’s wing in leading the 2020 campaign. She disclosed that the campaign slogan for the women’s wing, going into the 2020 campaign, is “We Care”, and urged various women groups in the party to use all platforms available to them, including social media, to sell the message.

The social media campaign launched to mobilise support for the voters’ registration is part of the activities the women’s wing will be embarking on to lead the party’s 2020 agenda.

Ms Gyamfua noted that with ban on political rallies still in force and the number of people to attend political functions limited to 100, the party will use various innovative means to reach out to the electorate. “For most of them, social media will play a key role. That is why last month I advised the youth within the party to use social media to the advantage of the party and not cause problems for the government,” she noted.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has set ending of this month to begin the nationwide voters’ registration ahead of the 2020 general election. This week, the EC has been piloting the exercise at their regional, metropolitan, municipal and district offices.
