Rural Reporting
Mr. Azor received a citation, medal, plaque, and real diamonds in recognition of his contribution to journalism and community development.
His reportage over the years has focused on issues affecting underserved communities, helping to raise awareness and inspire interventions aimed at improving livelihoods.
Organisers of the event described his work as a reflection of the critical role journalism plays in driving social change and amplifying the voices of vulnerable groups.
Honouring Achievers
Chief Executive Officer of Danny’s Entertainment, Daniel Walker, underscored the need to celebrate achievers while they are alive.
“In Africa, we often wait until people are gone before showing appreciation, but that should not be the case,” he said.
He noted that the Diamond Excellence Awards seeks to honour individuals and organisations making meaningful contributions to society.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Azor expressed appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to impactful journalism.
He also appealed to government to provide greater support for media houses, particularly those operating in rural areas.
According to him, the establishment of dedicated support funds for rural media practitioners would enhance their ability to carry out investigative and development-focused reporting.
Changemakers
The Diamond Excellence Awards continues to gain prominence as a platform that celebrates Ghanaian changemakers across various sectors.
Mr. Azor’s recognition has been widely described as a testament to the importance of rural journalism in national development and public accountability.
