The Konor of Manya Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Sakite II, has established an emergency Covid-19 fund with a seed capital of GHC50, 000. This is to help contain the spread of the pandemic in the traditional area.
The fund will be used to support the vulnerable and people living with disabilities in the area to lessen the negative impact of the pandemic on them.
The seed capital is to enable the fund to commence business with immediate effect while waiting for other individuals and stakeholders to contribute their quota.
Meanwhile, a 11-member fund management committee has been unveiled and sworn into office to manage the fund.
The committee will be responsible for mobilisation of resources from natives, both home and abroad, and manage it to reflect the aim of the establishment.
Present at the event were the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Samuel Nuertey Ayertey; the Municipal Chief Executive of Lower Manya Krobo, Simon Kwaku Tetteh; and the District Chief Executive for Upper Manya Krobo, Felix Adjao.
