The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has lauded Municipal and District Assemblies in the Eastern Region for their roles in ensuring smooth running of the ongoing voters’ registration exercise.

According to the Minister, the exercise has been peaceful in the Eastern Region so far due to the efforts and measures put in place by the various assemblies.

He has also lauded staff of the Electoral Commission and the public for their co-operation in ensuring the success of the exercise.

“I want to show appreciation to the EC officials and volunteers for the bold and good work they are doing. Because everyone is at risk, with them they must interface with people closely every day. It takes a lot of courage and patriotism to do that, just like the teachers, because you don’t even know the status of the person you’re dealing with,” he said.

Registration officials at the various centres told the Minister that the numbers had been encouraging since the start of the second phase, adding that they were expecting more people to show up as the days go by.
