Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, Mike Oquaye Jnr, as part of his contribution to nurture the New Patriotic Party in the Dome Kwabenya constituency, has made a cash donation of GH₵10,000 to the party.

The donation is to support the party’s mobilisation and running expenditure in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise, which commenced on June 30.

The money was presented to the constituency chairman, Robert Osei Bonsu, and the secretary, Theophilius Ansah Larbi.

The two party officials, after receiving the money, expressed gratitude to Mr Oquaye Jnr for his continuous support for the party.

Vigilance

Mr Oquaye Jnr, who lost in his bid to become the parliamentary candidate for the area, entreated all party officials to be extra vigilant in the ongoing exercise and all other activities before during and after the December 7 general elections.

The Dome Kwabenya constituency is noted for its critical role in detecting anomalies in the 2012 general election, on which basis the NPP proceeded to court to challenge the 2012 election results.

Mr Oquaye urged supporters of the party not to relent in showing the same level of vigilance this year too. He advised them not to think their incumbency advantage will lead to everything working in their favour, adding that no one will give them victory on a silver platter if they do not ‘fight’ for it themselves.

He thanked delegates of the party for their overwhelming support for him during the parliamentary primaries.

He stated that even though the primaries did not go in his favour, it is the party that has rather won, and called on all party faithful to put their arsenals together to annex another overwhelming victory in the general election.
