A sod has been cut for the construction of 20 projects under the ‘1 million dollars per constituency’ initiative in Mion District in the Northern Region.
The projects include the expansion of Sang water project, rural electrification, construction of boreholes, CHIP compounds, and educational infrastructure, among others.
The projects are under the supervision of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) and the Ministry of Special Initiatives.
President’s vision
Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony for the rehabilitation and expansion of Sang Small Water System in Sang, the Deputy Director in charge of Cooperate Affairs and International Relations at the NDA, Alhaji Mustapha Baba Mubashir, said the projects are in fulfilment of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision for economic and social transformation.
Alhaji Baba Mubashir said NDA is providing funds for 544 projects in the entire region under the ‘1 million dollar per constituency’ initiative.
“These projects were not just picked by NDA. We took a need assessment to allow the communities to identify their developmental needs and NDA is providing 1 million dollars to fund those projects,” he said.
No delay
He urged the contractors and consultants working on the projects to work within the timelines.
“We are giving you three to six months to complete the projects. The money is ready so we expect you to do good diligence and quality work,” he added.
Communities to benefit from the projects include Buli, Sang, Gunsi, Kpabia, Tu-wua, Donbini, Sakpe, Chevy, Sakoya, Kunkpano, Warivi, Nalogni, Bachabordo, Tinsung, Sambu, Mayefuni, Botingli, Yabogu, and Kpabiya.
