The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the commencement of registration for Ghanaian children aged 6 to 14 years at all its Premium Centres across the country.
The initiative forms part of the Authority’s mandate to register every Ghanaian, both home and abroad, in order to establish a secure and verifiable national identity system. It also marks a key step towards building a comprehensive and inclusive National Identity Register (NIR) that captures citizens from childhood.
*Registration Fees and Requirements*
The first-time registration fee at Premium Centres remains *GHS 310*, in line with approved premium service charges. Parents or legal guardians are required to present one of the following documents on behalf of the child:
* A valid Ghanaian Passport; or
* The child’s original Birth Certificate; or
* A Ghana Card holder parent or legal guardian who can vouch for the child.
*Online Booking System Expanded*
Starting *Monday, September 15, 2025*, the NIA’s online registration and booking system will be extended to the remaining 11 Premium Centres nationwide. This will allow applicants to conveniently schedule appointments to avoid delays and ensure smooth processing.
*Issuance and Expansion of Services*
The NIA assured the public that the issuance of Ghana Cards for children already registered within the 6–14 age bracket will be announced soon. Additionally, the Authority revealed that in the coming weeks, registration services for children will be rolled out at all NIA District Offices nationwide to make the process more accessible.
The NIA reiterated its commitment to building an inclusive identity system that covers every Ghanaian from early childhood to adulthood.
