The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Akwatia constituency, Ernest Kumi, has stated that the many successes achieved by the Akufo-Addo government has made it easy for the party to win a second term bid.

According to him, with the impressive performance of the government in sectors such as education, health, economy, agriculture, among others, members of the NPP only need unity to consolidate the party’s gains and expand the margin of victory.

He listed some achievements such as the Free SHS, NABCO, Planting for Food and Jobs, the ongoing industrialisation agenda, the many scattered infrastructural projects, among others, as successes never chalked by any government in its first term in office in Ghana.

He explained that the chiefs and people of Ghana have seen the good works of the president and are ready to appreciate his work with an emphatic victory.

Mr Kumi was speaking at the launch of the Maidens, an all ladies group sympathetic to the cause of the NPP, in the Akwatia constituency last week.

The launch followed a week of intensive house-to-house campaign embarked upon by the group in the area ahead of the general election.

The Akwatia Constituency Coordinator of the group, Abena Dokua, explained that members of the group comprises past female executives of all Tertiary Education Confederacy (TESCON) of NPP chapters in the country. She explained that the group’s main focus is to work to ensure that the NPP wins the 2020 presidential election and increase its seats in parliament.

Mr Kumi eulogised the group for the good work done in mobilising support for the party in the constituency.

He urged them to work together and live in harmony with all other volunteer groups in the party for a successful general election.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive of Denkyembour, Seth Obirikorang, has stated that with the work done by the Akufo-Addo government in the area, the party’s victory will be emphatic in this year’s election.

He maintained that the people in the area serve the NPP and not individuals, adding that members of the party would work hard to ensure that the party’s victory margin is increased to about 10,000 votes difference this year.
