The director General For State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) and former Information and tourism minister hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng joined the Vice President, H. E. Dr. Bawumia and other party big wigs for the Central Regional TESCON conference at the University of Cape Coast to re-strategize NPP for another victory come 2024.
TESCON (Tertiary Students Confederacy) is the student wing of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) which was founded by the current Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Asenso Boakye, MP on 8th January, 2000 and was inaugurated by the 2nd President of the 4th Republic of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor. Since its formation, TESCON has been one of the most important wing of the New Patriotic Party’s student and political activism and grassroot mobilisation.
Undoubtedly, TESCON has been very instrumental in the election victories in the history of the NPP.
During the 2000 general elections, the party sent TESCON members to Volta Region, they were mercilessly beaten and detained at the Ho Motar Regiment where they were processed and sent back to Accra. This actually discouraged many of the students from going back and also engaging in anything TESCON due to the fear of being beaten. Fortunately, the Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng popularly known as Asabee and the then Party General Secretary, Hon. Dan. Kwaku Botwe had to re-organised and motivated them to go back to work for the party to win in the run-off on 28th December 2000 to usher in the government of President Kufuor.
Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng received a massive welcome by TESCON members present at the auditorium since per history, he (Asabee) has always been one of them and a backbone to TESCON nationwide encouraging and supporting them to work tirelessly for the NPP.
The Hon. Asabee assured the TESCON members in the Central Region and across the institutions where TESCON is represented that he will do all within his capacity to continue to assist them and do more when he is given the mandate to become the National chairman of the NPP because he is and will always been part of TESCON.
