The deputy national youth organizer the New Patriotic party (NPP), USA Branch, Prince Kamal Gumah, has paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his residence. The visit, among other things, was to afford Mr Gumah the opportunity to formally introduce himself to the former President. It was also to inform the former President of his (Mr Gumah) decision to avail himself for the NPP national youth organizer contest when the party commences the processes towards the election of new national leaders.

Contribution

The former President, in receiving him, recounted the immense contribution of both his father and grandfathers in the fight to win political power for the NPP in the Northern part of Ghana.

He congratulated Mr Gumah on his decision to follow the footsteps of his grandfathers and father in serving the governing party.

Imoro Salifu, the grandfather of Prince Kamal Gumah, was the longest-serving constituency chairman of the NPP in the Upper East Region. During the formation of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), the party that started the fight for Ghana’s independence in 1948, Mr Salifu was responsible for propagating the ideas and policies of the party in the protectorate of the British colonies in the North. He later became the regional Commissioner (minister) for the upper regions in the Busia government in 1969.

Adam Amandi, a brother of Mr Salifu, also served in the Busia government as Deputy Minister of Health, and later moved to the Ministry of Trade.
