The Atiwa East Constituency Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Morvey Benjamin, has refuted, claims made by the opposition National Democratic Congress in the area that the Member of Parliament for the area Mrs. Abena Osei Asare, is only seen in the constituency during funeral occasions.
The Atiwa East Youth Organizer for NDC, Owusu Agyapong had claimed in a radio interview that the MP who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Finance visits the constituency during funerals and has not done any developmental project since her election as the MP for the area.
“I hardly get the chance to see her, she has not contributed to anything, not even a school building at Anyinam her own place of residence …I only see her on funeral grounds.” The NDC Youth Organiser claimed.
The statement by the NDC youth organizer went viral on social media and a section of the traditional media.
Response
However, in responding to the claim by the NDC, Mr. Morvey, the Atiwa East Constituency Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party in a statement copied to the eveningmailgh.com debunked the claims made by his counterpart, the NDC Youth Organizer. He described the claim as “cheap political propaganda meant to defame the MP” and bring her hard-won reputation into disrepute.
Projects
Mr. Morvey said that the MP has undertaken numerous developmental projects across the constituency in different sectors and called on the people of the constituency to disregard the comment made by the NDC.
“Hon. Abena Osei Asare in her capacity as MP has constructed 20 mechanized boreholes in the constituency which towns such as Anyinam, Ankaase, Frimponso, Sekyere, Napa, Moseaso, Kadewaso, Awosoase, Akutuase and among other communities have benefitted.” He said.
Sanitation
In the area of sanitation, the NPP Youth Organiser stated that “We can boast of Six furnished toilet facility compounds which communities such as Adasewase, Anyinam, Sekyere SDA SHS, Abakoase, and Kadewaso have benefitted.”
Health
In the area of health Mr. Morvey said four CHPS compounds have been constructed at Mampong, Fremponso, Ahankrasu and Tiawia. He added that a 20-bed capacity maternity block has been constructed at Anyinam clinic and a new health centre has also been built at Jejeti.
Education and Training
The NPP Youth Organiser stated that in the area of education, the MP has constructed a 6 unit classroom block at Ehiawoanwu to replace a dilapidated one that was in the community and has been consistent in giving start-up equipment of sewing machines and hairdryers to all trainees who complete their vocational trade in the constituency. He said the MP also continue to distribute free examination equipment to BECE candidates annually and has lobbied for a GETFUND project for Adasawase Presby KG building, lobbied for 41 computers and accessories from GIFEC to SDA SHS at Sekyere among other visible achievements.
Roads
In the area of roads, Mr. Morvey stated that the MP has worked on the Anyinam-Adasawase road, Anyinam township roads and Awosoase-Krobom road.
Other Projects
The NPP Youth Organiser stated that the MP has also constructed two bus stops at Ankaase junction, and constructed sheds at the main Sekyere toll booth for traders. She has also given 16 tricycles to the 16 electoral areas in the district and lobbied for electricity connection to Ehiawoanwu. He said the MP has also distributed free information centre equipment to information centers at Kwakwaduam, distributed spraying machines and Agric inputs to farmers in the area among others.
NDC Dazed
Mr. Morvey stated that the NDC is dazed by the many successes chalked by the MP hence their unwarranted ranting. He said it is not surprising that the MP was ranked 4th among 275 MPs in Ghana and 2nd among the 33 MPs in the Eastern region and called on the people to disregard the malicious and frivolous allegations against the MP and continue to support her for more projects for the constituency.

RE: I ONLY SEE MY MP AT FUNERAL GROUNDS – Morley Benjamin
My attention has been drawn to a dubious publication circulating on some online portals including ghanaweb on the above caption believed to have come from the Atiwa East NDC Constituency Youth Organizer.
The Holy Bible entreats us at Romans 12:15 to “rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn”. It is therefore in the right direction for the MP who is the mother of the constituency to mourn with bereaved families.
Digesting the malicious propaganda orchestrated by the NDC youth organizer, Hon. Abena Osei Asare was ranked 4th among 275 MPs in Ghana and 2nd among the 33 MPs in the Eastern region.
The report is a public document which all Ghanaians can access.
The NDC trained propagandist also claimed to have seen nothing being done by the Hon. Deputy Finance Minister in the constituency. For the avoidance of doubt, let me point out a few projects to the propaganda blinded young man.

The few achievements mentioned are among many which Hon. Abena Osei Asare has done including job opportunities for the youth in various government institutions.
It, therefore, comes with no surprise that the Atiwa East MP who doubles as Deputy Finance Minister was ranked the best female MP in Ghana by the University of Ghana survey on the performance of MPs.
People are voted to power to serve and Hon. Abena Osei Asare is doing exactly what the people of Atiwa East want her to do.
Let’s stop destructing a well-focused leader. Rather, let’s rally behind her to do her best for the collective good of the constituency.
