Two persons are reported dead following minutes of downpour that got some parts of Accra flooded in the early hours of Monday morning. The downpour started around 10:00am today, Monday, 20th May, 2019 and lasted for about 45minutes to an hour.

According to Accra Based Accra Fm, the two bodies were found at Adabraka, a flood-prone area in the capital.

The Monday morning rains got several places of the the capital submerged in water. Areas like Okponglo, Kwame Nkrumah interchange, Avenor, Alajo, Dzowulu and some parts of Kaneshie got flooded.

University of Ghana

The nation’s Premier University, University of Ghana was not spurred from the wrath of the flood.  Every room at the basement of the Dr. Hilla Limann hall of the University got flooded and eventually overflowing outside the rooms, leaving the whole floor flooded.

Trees were also fallen down by the rain with branches of other trees broken. At Valco Hall, trees were seen on the floor by the time http://eveningmailgh.com‘s team visited the place.

A huge tree at the premises of the Institute of African Studies of the University fell on a car that was packed at the place sparking agitation among the students of the department.

 

Hassan Ayariga

The Haatso home of former PNC Flagbearer was also not left out in the floods. The house got flooded submerging his cars under the flood.
