Young African Women Network, a Non – Governmental Organisation [NGO] has donated some reliefs items to students, widows, hairdressers, and seamstresses in Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.

The items include; exercise books, schools bags, clothes, hand dryers, and sewing machines.

The team led by the founder and leader of the foundation, Mercy Mercedes Asamani on a day tour visited the Okwabena SDA school in Bawjiase where she donated some exercise books and school bags to the students.

 

She also made a donation of clothes to some widows in the local community.

The team from YAWN later met with Dode Akaabi XIV, the Paramount Queen-mother of the Awutu Traditional Council, where she donated sewing machines and hand dryers to the Queen’s foundation that trains some young women in hairdressing and sewing.

Speaking to the media after the presentations, Miss Mercedes Asamani said “the donation was made to mark her birthday on how far the Good Lord has brought her’’.

According to her “the Queen has an association for widows where they support each other and learn skills to live on. We gave 6 yards of cloths to each widow and advised them on how they could make more money from their skills and help each other’’.

She added that “the donation was made to the trainees in hairdressing and sewing to aid their work’’, adding that “We also presented an envelope of money to one lady to aid her in paying her University Admission fees’’.
