The Ghana Police Service has arrested the principal suspect in the murder of two relatives at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, following an earlier manhunt over the fatal shooting of the victims in an alleged GH¢500,000 debt dispute.

The suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, was arrested at his hideout after initially evading the police.

In an update on the case, the Police confirmed his arrest but did not disclose the location of the hideout or the circumstances surrounding the operation.

“The key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who was on the run, has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the Police stated.

His arrest follows the earlier detention of a 47-year-old woman, Beatrice Mumuni, who is suspected of accompanying him to the residence where the killings occurred.

The Police had declared the principal suspect wanted and announced a GH¢100,000 reward for credible information leading to his arrest.

GH¢500,000 Debt Dispute Linked to Sakumono Killings

According to a statement issued by the Accra Regional Police Command on October 30, the two victims were identified as George Atuguba, 57, and his niece, Irene Atuguba, 47.

Police said officers from the Sakumono District Police Command were dispatched to a residence at NTHC Estate following reports of a double murder.

Upon arrival, officers found the two victims lying in a pool of blood.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the incident was connected to a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the principal suspect and failed to repay the money.

According to the Police, the suspect reportedly visited the deceased’s residence with Beatrice Mumuni on the morning of October 30 to demand repayment.

A disagreement allegedly developed during the encounter, after which the principal suspect reportedly shot George Atuguba and his niece.

The victims were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead by a medical officer.

Their bodies were subsequently deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The Police initially arrested Beatrice Mumuni on suspicion of accompanying the alleged gunman to the residence.

The latest arrest means both individuals identified by the Police in connection with the incident have now been apprehended.

Investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the killings.

Two Arrested Over Murder of Female Tricycle Rider

In a separate development, the Ghana Police Service has arrested two young men in connection with the killing of a female tricycle rider and the theft of her vehicle at Afrancho, near Konkoli, in the Bono East Region.

The suspects, Peter Nchor Asadigina, 21, and Mudasel Dramani, 19, were arrested at Hansua on Friday, October 30, 2026, following a tip-off.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two allegedly hired the deceased’s tricycle from the Ampabame Lorry Station in Kumasi on October 29 to transport them to Afrancho.

Police suspect that the men attacked and killed the rider upon reaching their destination before taking possession of her green Bajaj tricycle.

The suspects were subsequently intercepted while travelling towards Techiman.

According to the Police, they allegedly intended to relocate and use the stolen tricycle for commercial activities.

A search conducted during the investigation led to the retrieval of a number plate bearing registration number M-26-AE 2047.

Officers also recovered eight mobile phones, including an iPhone 12 Pro suspected to belong to the deceased, three SIM cards, an MTN MiFi device, a bunch of keys, two lighters and a jackknife cover.

The deceased’s body has been deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Both suspects remain in police custody, assisting investigations.
