In response to their alleged failure to uphold professionalism during the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise, the Ghana Police Service has swiftly taken action, interdicting three of its officers.

Inspector Michael Addo, G/CONST. Eric Boakye, and G/CONST. Michael Gyan have been placed on immediate interdiction for their purported negligence of duty on May 11, 2024. The trio, stationed at the Electoral Commission Office in Adugyama, Ashanti region, reportedly faltered in maintaining security protocols when faced with attempts to disrupt the registration process.

Their failure to adequately discharge their responsibilities as security officers during the incident prompted the decisive action from the Ghana Police Service.

The interdicted personnel will now undergo the due disciplinary process within the Police Service. This measure underscores the service’s commitment to upholding standards of professionalism and ensuring the integrity of electoral processes.

The swift response from the authorities indicates a zero-tolerance approach towards any lapses in duty, particularly in matters as critical as safeguarding the electoral process. Such actions serve to reinforce public confidence in the security apparatus tasked with maintaining law and order during sensitive periods like voter registration exercises.

The Police Service’s commitment to accountability and discipline within its ranks is essential for fostering trust and ensuring the smooth conduct of democratic processes in the country.
