The Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana, Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin has lambasted world super powers within the UN for allowing their conflict of interest to stampede the Agenda of the UN.
According to Mr. Afenyo-Markin, he does not believe that the United Nations has failed. He however believes that when the conflict of interest of the world super powers are curtailed, the UN can live up to its expectation.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin was contributing on the floor of the UN parliament.
The Efutu Legislator led a Ghanaian delegation to the UN’s Inter-Parliamentary Union Annual Hearing on Emerging Challenges to Multilateralism.
Taking his turn to address the parliament, Mr. Afenyo-Markin said “the Agenda of the UN is often stampeded by conflict of interest particularly so by Super Powers within the UN.”
He then charged the UN parliament to put measures in place to stop the world super powers from allowing their conflict of interest to stampede the overriding agenda of the world and the UN.
“What steps can we take within the scope of emerging trend of mass communication to address the Stampeding posture of the Super Powers within the UN” He asked the house.
