Six fishermen in western region who returned to the Sekondi beach last week from fishing in neighbouring Ivory Coast, have been quarantined by the Metropolitan Assembly.

According to city officials, the six who were picked after a tip off, would be quarantined for two weeks and then tested for Covid-19.

Information available to Daily Statesman has it that the fishermen bitterly complained about poor state of their quarantined facility and have therefore been moved to hotel rooms.

One of them who spoke to the paper on telephone,  blamed the assembly for isolating them  for no sin committed.

As breadwinners of their respective families, he questioned how   their wives and children would survive in their absence.   He also complained about failure by the assembly to promptly provide them food after quarantining them.

In another telephone interview, James Obeng Jnr,   the Sekondi -Takoradi NADMO director and   member of the local  Covid -19 team,  said measures were being put in place to ensure that the six  are not only made  comfortable   during the stipulated  period , but  promptly and adequately  fed too.
