Kwasi Banin, a 57-year-old man from Asiakwa in the Eastern Region, is calling on individuals and benevolent organisations to help him raise a sum of GHC8000 to undergo a surgical operation. The surgery is to ease him from the severe pains he is suffering as a result of an unexplained swollen of a part of his body.
A look at him shows that between the right side of his chest and his right shoulder has swollen.
Speaking to the Daily Statesman on what caused it, Mr Banin explained that he was hit by a falling tree in 1983 when he was 15 years old.
Hospital visitations
He said he did not feel much pains as at the time until the part of the body where the tree hit started to swell in 2012. He then took it to Hawa Memorial Hospital in Akyem Osiem for a surgical operation.
He added that in 2018 the same part swelled again, adding that he went to the same hospital for another surgical operation, which cost him about GHC5000.
Mr Banin stated that, unfortunately for him, the same part swelled again. And, realising that the many surgeries done at Hawa Memorial Hospital was yielding no fruit, he went to the St Joseph’s Hospital at Koforidua where he was referred to the Koforidua Central Hospital.
He indicated that after several medical reviews at the Koforidua Central Hospital, he was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Appeal
He disclosed that he has been asked to raise an amount of GHC8000 for him to go through another surgery.
He is therefore appealing to the general public to help him raise the money since his inability to raise the money has been leaving him with suicide thoughts daily.
“For now, I have only three things left to do, either to go and fall into a pit, drink a poisonous substance or hang myself to death because the pain is becoming unbearable,” he told the Daily Statesman.
