Omanhene of Dwenim Traditional Area, Nana Bofo Bene IV
The Acting President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and the Omanhene of Dwenim Traditional Area, Nana Bofo Bene IV, has cautioned that no chief has the right to prevent his subjects from taking part in any national exercise.
He said although chiefs have authority over their subjects, they cannot prevent them from exercising their constitutional rights as Ghanaians.
Nana Bofo Bene IV gave the caution when he addressed the regional executives of the New Patriotic Party at his palace yesterday.
Peace bearers
The hierarchy of the governing party in the Bono Region, led by Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) is embarking on a three-day sensitisation visit to the various paramount chiefs in the region on the upcoming new voters’ registration exercise.
Nana Bofo Bene IV added that chiefs must be ambassadors of peace and progress, adding that they should therefore support the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voters’ register, as enshrined in Article 45 of the 1992 Constitution and refrain from acts that have the tendency of plunging the country into chaos.
Chairman Abronye, in his remarks, said the new voters’ register will not disenfranchise any qualified individual, adding that it is the constitutional mandate of the EC to conduct such exercise.
Victory smock
Meanwhile, the Kwatwoma Traditional Council has presented a smock, which signifies purity and victory, to President Akufo-Addo as he runs for another term in office.
The smock was presented to Chairman Abronye who will in turn present it to the President.
The presentation was done when the regional secretariat of the NPP paid courtesy call on the traditional council as part of its tour to the various paramount chiefs in the region.
