Members of the campaign team take their oath of office

The Western Regional branch of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has resolved to retain all 13 parliamentary seats currently being occupied by the party in the region in this year’s general election.

The party has also vowed to snatch two out of the four seats currently being occupied by the the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region.

According to the Western Regional Chairman of the party, Francis Ndede Siah, there is a solid, intelligent, competent and experienced team on the ground to execute this agenda. He added that Western Region would neither dissappoint the national party office nor President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.

All that is needed, he said, is the unflinching support of party members in realising this goal.

Inauguration

Mr Ndede Siah was speaking at the inauguration of the regional campaign team for the 2020 election in Takoradi on Monday.

The 38-all inclusive team, led by Chairman Ndede Siah, was inaugurated by Lord Commey, the party’s deputy national campaign manager in charge of mobilisation.

Members of the campaign team have been tasked to lead the NPP in asking for “4 more years for President Nana Akufo-Addo” and all the party’s parliamentary candidates in the region.

They are also to go out and remind Ghanaians that the NDC, as an alternative government, is “very scary”, considering what the NPP has been able to achieve in the past three and a half years, with plans to do more.

Chairman Ndede Siah said the decision by his team to capture 15 out of the 17 parliamentary seats in the region is non-negotiable, and rubbished the opposition NDC’s 90 per cent target, describing it as “childish and funny”.

Comparing records

He reiterated that this year’s electioneering campaign would be based on the track records of the two major political parties and their presidential candidates.

“Every discerning Ghanaian knows that NDC is no match at all when it comes to governance. We are going to beat them hands down,” he said.

Inaugurating the campaign team, Mr Lord Commey stressed the need for humility and eloquence on the part of the team when canvasing for votes. He also urged them to show respect to the electorate.

Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Western Regional Minister and member of the campaign team, noted that NPP has fulfilled almost all campaign promises made to Ghanaians in 2016, and would undoubtedly be given another mandate to do more.
