The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reappointed Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah, Esq., as National Director of External Affairs and named Dornukie Naa Norteye as his deputy, as the party strengthens its international engagement and diaspora mobilisation structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The appointments form part of a broader restructuring of the party’s national directorates following meetings of its National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Mr Kyeretwie-Amponsah, popularly known as Stonash, retains the position after serving as Director of External Affairs for the past three years.

He is expected to lead efforts to consolidate the NPP’s overseas support base, mobilise diaspora members behind the party and its flagbearer, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and strengthen relations with the diplomatic corps.

His reappointment, alongside the appointment of a deputy, signals continuity in the party’s external relations strategy as it prepares for the next electoral contest.

Diaspora Mobilisation Takes Centre Stage

With the 2028 elections approaching, the NPP is seeking to strengthen its international networks and deepen engagement with supporters living outside Ghana.

Mr Kyeretwie-Amponsah is expected to draw on his experience to coordinate the party’s external engagements and strengthen relationships with its overseas branches.

The appointment of Dornukie Naa Norteye as Deputy Director of External Affairs is expected to provide additional support for the directorate’s activities.

The renewed focus on diaspora mobilisation comes as the NPP undertakes organisational preparations intended to strengthen its electoral machinery and broaden its support base.

The party’s wider appointments also cover several strategic directorates, including elections, research, information technology, legal affairs, policy and communications.

According to an October 2026 leadership compilation, Dr Augustine Blay has been named National Director of Elections, supported by Vincent Ofori, Jerry Asamani and Ernest Nkrumah Taylor as deputies.
