The US-based Okyeman Association of Georgia has donated food items, toiletries and an undisclosed amount of cash to the Our Faith in God Foundation in Akwatia to support the upkeep of children at the facility.
The donation, made over the weekend, included bags of rice and maize, gallons of cooking oil, cartons of instant noodles, cans of milk and other essential supplies.
The financial contribution is intended to assist the foundation in meeting its operational expenses.
The donation forms part of the association’s continued support for the orphanage, which has benefited from its assistance over the years.
Association Considers Support for Building Projects
Presenting the items on behalf of the association, Executive Committee Member Robert Baafi said the donation reflected the organisation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children.
“On behalf of the Okyeman Association, we are honoured to make this donation as a small expression of our love, care, and commitment to supporting these wonderful children and giving them hope for a brighter future,” he said.
Mr Baafi indicated that the association had consistently supported the facility and intended to maintain the relationship.
“Our commitment is always there, so there has never been a year we struggle or think twice about helping,” he stated.
He also disclosed that the association was considering extending its assistance to the foundation’s ongoing building projects.
“We know they have building projects that they’ve embarked on. And we really haven’t gotten ourselves into that. That’s something we could possibly look at helping with,” he said.
Foundation Assures Donors of Accountability
Receiving the items, the Chief Executive Officer of Our Faith in God Foundation, Janet Oppong, thanked the association for its continued assistance.
She said the donation would help the facility meet some of its immediate needs and support the care of children under its supervision.
Mrs Oppong assured the association that the donated items and funds would be used for their intended purposes.
She also reiterated the foundation’s commitment to transparent and accountable management of resources.
The CEO encouraged other organisations, groups and individuals to support the facility, indicating that the foundation remained open to partnerships and donations.
The Okyeman Association of Georgia is among the organisations that have provided recurring assistance to the foundation, with its latest contribution focusing on food supplies and operational support.
