The Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore Constituency in the Ashanti region Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye has presented a Physical Cash of Fifteen Thousand Ghana Cedis (15,000.00) to a contractor working on a Rural Electrification project that has been abandoned by the Sekyere East District Assembly over lack of funds to complete the projects.

Over ten (10) communities in the District will benefit from the rural electrification project that has been abandoned for many years by the Sekyere East District Assembly.

The Member of Parliament for the area Hon. Dr. Ayew Afriye speaking to Media after officially handing over the cheque to the contractor indicated that, government has been able to provide all the materials that will be needed for the electrification project but left with the District Assembly to sign the MP common fund to release money for the contractor to commence work, the assembly has refused to signed the document to release the money to the contractor, so am using my own pocket money which is Ghc15,000 to pay the contractor to start work for the good of people of Bouya and it environs to get electricity.

According to him, the residents of Bouya and other communities are threatening not to vote on the coming 2020 Parliamentary and Presidential elections if they do not get access to electricity.

Dr. Ayew added that, the major concern by the residents is due to lack of electricity in the community, they cannot listen to radio and watch President Nana Addo on Tv to know what is going on concerning the global Coronavirus Pandemic . There is the need for me as an MP to pay the money for the contractor to begin work for them also to enjoy electricity whiles the assembly is not ready to release money.

Moreover, some of the residents at Bouya expressed their profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye for paying the contractor to commence work on the abandoned rural electrification project and urged the delegates in Effiduase/Asokore Constituency to vote massively for him to continue his good work.
