A CHILD OF STRUGGLE… BUT NOT DEFEAT
In the quiet village of Agyapomaa in Ghana’s Eastern Region, a young boy began life under circumstances many would never endure.
Andrews Kwame Perprem was not born into comfort. He was raised by his maternal great-grandmother—an elderly woman over a century old—who did her best under extremely harsh conditions.
From the tender age of five, life became a daily fight for survival.
While other children played, Andrews worked.
He farmed.
He searched the forests for wild kola nuts and mushrooms.
He fished in streams just to have something to eat.
Most days, he walked barefoot—long distances to school, on rough paths, under the scorching sun.
Many times, he sat in class hungry.
He had no school bag.
No desk.
No chair.
In a system where pupils brought their own furniture, Andrews sometimes sat on the bare floor—yet he never stopped learning.

THE QUIET GENIUS
Despite the hardship, something remarkable stood out.
Andrews was brilliant.
He consistently placed first in class.
He spoke little, often withdrawn because of poverty and bullying—but his mind spoke loudly through excellence.
His happiest moments were not at play…
They were in the classroom.
They were during exams.
Because education, for him, was not just learning—it was hope.

A TURNING POINT
Just after his 12th birthday, life dealt another blow—he lost his great-grandmother.
But in that loss came a turning point.
He moved to Accra to live with his father.
There, reality hit again.
Despite his brilliance, he was placed two classes behind, from Primary 5 back to Primary 3.
Many would have given up.
But Andrews did not.
With determination and discipline, he studied relentlessly—day and night, at school and with a private teacher.
Within just three months, he began speaking English fluently and competing academically.
Within four months, he ranked 10th out of 30 students—and was promoted.
Soon, he rose into the top three.
And then came a defining moment.
He sat for a competitive entrance exam.
Out of 118 pupils, Andrews came 1st.
He skipped an entire class.
From that moment, his path was clear—he was destined for greatness.

EXCELLENCE AND LEADERSHIP EMERGE
Andrews went on to become the overall best student in his school in the 2004 BECE.
But it wasn’t just about academics anymore.
Leadership had found its voice.
He was elected Senior Boys Prefect—a sign of trust, discipline, and character.
At Adonten Secondary School, Aburi, he rose even higher:

He was no longer just a student.

Meet Andrews Kwame Perprem – A Story of Resilience, Leadership, and Service
Born 39 years ago in Agyapomaa, a small village in the Abuakwa South Constituency of Ghana’s Eastern Region, Andrews Kwame Perprem’s life story is one of extraordinary resilience, determination, and purpose.
Raised by his maternal great-grandmother under extremely difficult conditions, Andrews experienced hardship from a very young age. Between the ages of 5 and 12, he worked tirelessly to survive—farming, foraging for wild kola nuts and mushrooms, and fishing just to feed himself. He walked barefoot to school, often on an empty stomach, and lacked even the most basic school supplies. At times, he sat on the bare floor to learn, in a system where pupils were expected to provide their own furniture.
Yet, even in the face of such adversity, Andrews stood out. Quiet but exceptionally brilliant, he consistently ranked first in his class. Education became his refuge and his hope.
His life took a turning point after the passing of his great-grandmother shortly after his 12th birthday, when he moved to Accra to live with his father. Though placed two classes behind his level, Andrews refused to be discouraged. Within just a few months of intense study and discipline, he rapidly improved, rising through the ranks to become one of the top students in his class. Soon after, he achieved an incredible milestone—placing first out of 118 candidates in a competitive entrance examination, effectively skipping an entire academic year.
This pattern of excellence continued. Andrews went on to become the overall best student in his school in the 2004 BECE examinations. His leadership potential also began to shine, as he served as Senior Boys Prefect.
At Adonten Secondary School in Aburi, Andrews once again distinguished himself—not only academically but as a leader—serving as both Senior Boys Prefect and President of the School Representative Council (SRC).
Driven by an unshakable commitment to education and service, he pursued higher education with distinction. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Business Studies, an MPhil in Development Studies from the University for Development Studies (UDS), an MSc from the University of Antwerp, and another Master’s degree from the prestigious KU Leuven in Belgium.
Professionally, Andrews has served as a Teaching and Research Assistant at UDS and later as a Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba. His passion for development and community impact led him to establish Drewperp Consult Limited, Drewperp Financial Services, and Save the Mining Communities–Ghana—organizations dedicated to empowering lives and creating sustainable opportunities.
His commitment to leadership and service extends beyond Ghana. In Belgium, he has been a pillar of the Ghanaian student community, serving for over five years as Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students–Belgium. In this role, he worked closely with the Ghana Embassy in Brussels and other stakeholders to improve the welfare of Ghanaian students. He has organized numerous seminars, symposia, and leadership programs that have impacted many lives.
Politically, Andrews is a dedicated and results-oriented leader. He is the visionary behind United Belgium for Bawumia (UBB), a dynamic movement mobilizing support and resources for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Currently serving as the Acting Secretary of the NPP Antwerp Chapter, his track record speaks for itself—marked by innovation, organization, and tangible results.
Beyond his professional and political life, Andrews is a philanthropist, a development consultant with over 15 years of experience, and an accomplished author with more than 15 scientific publications.
