The District Chief Executive of the Ayensuano District in the Eastern Region, Florence Govina has enumerated some successes of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government in her district. According to the DCE, within her few years as the DCE for the area, the government has made tremendous strides in various sectors of the economy.
In the education sector Ms. Govina stated that the government has completed a six-unit classroom block at Owusu Wawaase. The Assembly has also completed two-unit KG blocks at Kyekyewere Mensahkrom, Kwaboata Junction and Teacher Mante as well as three-unit classroom blocks at Amanase Aboabo and Anum Apapam Islamic basic school. Also three school projects have been rehabilitated whiles a three-unit classroom block is ongoing at Anum Apapam with three new contracts for Kokosease, Kuano and Kwadjo Fosu awarded. “The Assembly has completed the construction of two official staff bungalows and one is still on going. We are working around the clock to connect the place with electricity.” She said.
Ms. Govina made these known when she was addressing the 11th ordinary meeting of the second session of the Ayensuano District Assembly. She said in the area of health, the District is making all effort to equip the only health center in the District to be able to provide quality health care for the people. In that regard, she stated that she has release funds for the purchase of Hospital Beds, Mattresses vaccine fridges and bathroom scales for the center. “The government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has provided for the construction of the Ayensuano District Hospital. I have started making efforts to acquire land for the citing of the hospital.”
Ms. Govina added that the district has distributed chemicals to about 753 farmers in the district to fight fall army worm in the area. Aside from that, she stated that about 6000 oil palm seedlings are ready to be distributed to farmers under the Planting for export and rural development project. She said the Assembly has also provided 11 motor bikes for agric extension officers in the District to aid in farmers visitation.
One District, One Warehouse
Ms. Govina added that under the one district, one warehouse project, a new warehouse project has been started in the district adding that “this would go a long way in boosting the local economy”.
Water and Sanitation
Ms. Govina also enumerated some achievement made in the area of Water and Sanitation including construction of 30 boreholes and 34 toilet facilities in the district.
She used the occasion to plead with the Assembly Members to propagate the good works of the government in their electoral areas.
In the area of security, the DCE presented a new police car to the District Police command. She used the occasion to introduce the first ever District Police Commander posted to the District to the Assembly members.
The New District Commander Mr. Francis Kojo Nartey speaking with the eveningmailgh.com assured the people of improved security in the area. He stated that the new car will help enhance movement of the police in the district.
Meanwhile, after the meeting, Ms. Govina presented 41 motor bikes to the Assembly Members in the District.
Some of the Assembly Members expressed their appreciation to the government for the good work. They promised to propagate the good work of the government to the people in their electoral areas.
