Dr Charles Dwamena, NPP National Treasurer

National Treasurer of the governing New Patriotic Party, Dr Charles Dwamena, has called on members of the party to remain resolute and keep supporting the government since the party has what it takes to win the 2024 general election.

According to him, the NPP remains the party with the highest number of supporters in the country, saying if they were able to sustain such support, winning the 2024 general election would not be a ‘big deal’.

“If we are able to reach out to our party members and make sure that we are united and present a common front, we will be able to go beyond 2024 and break the eight,” he said.

Party-government unity

The NPP treasurer made the assertion during an engagement between leaders of the party and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of some State institutions.

The meeting dubbed “Time with the CEOs” offered the national executives the opportunity to interact with the CEOs and present expected future challenges and how to address them as the party gears for the 2024 elections.

He explained that in 2008 the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the election with less than 51 per cent of the votes and maintained a similar victory margin in 2012.

On the other hand, he said, “in 2016, the NPP won but with more than 51 per cent, and in 2020, the NPP won again with more than 51 per cent.”

Dr. Dwamena argued that if the records remain the same, going into the 2024 elections, then the party could win the elections if it put its house in order, regardless of the economic turbulence in the country currently.

“And that starts today with your ideas, and that starts today with the experiences that we will be sharing together so that the team of national executives will be supported in whatever we will embark upon. Together we will be able to break the eight,” he charged the CEOs.
