Jeff Konadu, Eastern Regional NPP Secretary

The Eastern Region branch of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to launch another manifesto tailored to the needs of the constituencies in the region, according to the Regional Secretary Jeff Konadu Addo.

Speaking to the Daily Statesman on Saturday, on the side-lines of the launch of Patriotic Health Team, a youth volunteer group in the party, at Koforidua, Mr Konadu said while the national manifesto of the party covers the entire country, the region has localised it to suit their context.

He noted that the regional manifesto, unlike the national manifesto, focuses on the various constituencies in the region and addresses specific concerns in those areas.

He stated that, like the national manifesto, the regional manifesto will also focus on three key themes, namely what the party has achieved so far, what it is working on and what it intends to do.

“There was the need to localise the manifesto to suit us. So, if for example you are in Asene-Manso-Akroso and you take our regional manifesto, you should see things that are directly tailored to your area,” he said.

‘Boot on the ground’

He has, thus, urged all members and supporters of the party to hit the ground with the regional manifesto as soon as it is released.

He indicated that due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the party is embarking on what it calls ‘Boot on the Ground’ campaign, a retail campaign that target individuals and not the masses.

He added that the ‘boot on the ground’ campaign will afford them the opportunity to explain in details issues in their localised manifesto to the electorate.

Earlier, Mr Konadu, in addressing the inauguration, urged members of the Patriotic Health Team to join the party’s ‘boot on the ground’ campaign as their contribution to the 2020 general election.

Traditional leaders visit

Meanwhile, Mr Konadu has stated that the party intends rolling out a regional exercise where all parliamentary candidates will be taken to the various traditional leaders in the region to seek for their blessings and permission to campaign on their lands.

He noted that, already, the exercise has started in the Kwahu enclave where he led the three parliamentary candidates in the area to the Kwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, and some other community and sub-chiefs in the area.
