The Minister (middle) inspects Atibie road
Ahead of the impending Kwahu Easter celebration, the Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has inspected ongoing road construction works linking Atibie-Kwahu and the Paragliding site. The road is being developed into a first class road with bicycle lanes to ease movement on that stretch, especially during the Easter period.
Residents and motorists who ply that road, especially during the annual Easter festivities, have been complaining of the unmotorable nature of the road. Last year, during the celebration, some emergency works were undertaken on the road to make it a bit motorable.
Pledge
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, upon visiting the Paragliding site and seeing the nature of the road, promised the residents and revellers of good roads. This is because, according to the President, that road is crucial for the purposes of boosting the tourism potential at the Paragliding site.
Subsequently, a contract has been awarded to Messers ESM Co Ltd to construct the road.
The Eastern Regional Minister, in an interview with the Daily Statesman, expressed appreciation to the President for the upgrade of the road. He assured the people that his outfit will continue to monitor the progress of work on the road to ensure that it is in good shape before the Easter festivities.
Donation
In another development, the Minister, who is also the MP for Nkawkaw, has has presented 17 sets of desktop computers to the Kwahu Nsaba M/A Basic School. The donation is to improve information, communications and technology (ICT) literacy pupils of the beneficiary school.
Mr Darfour also donated one brand new HP laptop to the Nkawkaw municipal education directorate.
He noted that ICT is the order of the day, saying “even in Parliament, MPs are now learning e-governance with computers and that is why I want your children to be ahead of time by taking your ICT lessons seriously.”
The head teacher of the school, John Darfour, expressed gratitude to the MP for his support over the years. He said the MP has always exhibited a sense of responsibility whenever the school calls on him in times of difficulty.
