The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has extended his visits to voters’ registration centres to the Afram Plains North and South constituencies. The Minister has so far visited other constituencies in the region, including Upper and Lower West Akyem, Kade, New Abirim, Akuapem North and South, Okere, among others.
The visitation is to get first-hand information on how the various stakeholders have been working together to ensure an incident-free exercise. He has also been monitoring to check how applicants are observing the safety protocol directives given by the Ghana Health Service, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the government.
The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw, in Afram Plains, visited the Mmofra Besu Nimtree Registration Centre, Maame Krobo L/A Primary 1&2, Abrokwah Lodge 1&2, Tease Presbyterian Church and Nkwantanan R/C primary.
He was accompanied by George Ofori, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afram Plains South; Samuel Kena, DCE for Afram Plains North; and representatives from the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).
Donation
The Minister used the occasion to donate some Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the EC officials and the applicants at the various registration centres.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of adherence to the various safety protocols, and comportment of the applicants.
“Everyone is working – the EC officials, the security agencies, and the general public as well. They have surprised me with their level of attention and commitment to this exercise. They comply with the safety protocols, by wearing nose masks and washing their hands and as you all witnessed. I have also been sharing some nose masks and hand sanitizer to encourage them more in observing the safety protocols,” the Regional Minister told journalists.
